WASHINGTON (AP) A cake shop in the United States state of Washington is selling homemade cake to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but customers aren’t buying it.
The shop in Talulah sells cake made with whipped cream and vanilla extract.
It’s called Cake Bake Shop and is a joint venture of Talulahs owner and a baker named Amy Kellett.
The shop is owned by the Washington County Board of Elections.
It’s been selling the homemade cake for several years.
But on Valentine’s Eve, customers stopped coming to check out the cake shop, which sells baked goods and baked goods baked by other baked goods makers.
In fact, some customers stopped ordering cake, and the shop has shuttered.
Kellett says it was a laborious process to make the cake.
She’s also made homemade cake at home before.
But this time, it’s a whole cake, so it takes less time.
Kellets bakery is located at 815 E. 8th St., Talulaha, Wash.
The Washington County Elections website says cake bake shops are allowed to sell cake at the same price as baked goods that customers buy, so Kelleetts has to charge a 10 percent tax.
The site says customers can get a free cake if they’re buying at least one cake, but that’s not always possible.
